3. FAIRY CASTLE CAKE

Before you begin:
Kitchens can be dangerous so make sure you have just read the Kitchen Safety Checklist.
Check with Mum or Dad that you are allowed to cook.
So the food doesn’t get any germs wash your hands with warm soapy water and dry them well.
Read the recipe through before you begin and get out all the equipment and ingredients you will need.
Don’t forget, have fun and the best cooks ALWAYS clean up their mess.


Here’s what you need:

1 x 30cm square cake
1 x 20cm round cake
4 small jam rollettes
1 quantity icing (see recipe below)
Mint leaves, freckles, candy-coated chocolate buttons, raspberries, 4 lolly pops, 1 ice-cream cone and candles.

Icing:
• 250g butter, softened
• 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
• 500g packet icing sugar
• 3–4 drops pink food colouring
• 3 tablespoons milk

Here’s how to do it:
Using an electric mixer beat butter until pale and creamy. Add pink food colour. Gradually add icing sugar and milk alternately, beating well after each addition.
