76. Spaghetti with Meat Balls

Before you begin:

Kitchens can be dangerous so make sure you have just read the Kitchen Safety Checklist.
Check with Mum or Dad that you are allowed to cook.
So the food doesn’t get any germs, wash your hands with warm soapy water and dry them well.
Read the recipe through before you begin and get out all the equipment and ingredients you will need.
Don’t forget to have fun, and the best cooks ALWAYS clean up their mess.

Here’s what you use
• large bowl
• gloves
• tablespoon measure
• cup measure
• chopping board
• large pasta pot
• frying pan
• wooden spoon
• colander
• tongs

Here’s what you need
• 500g beef mince
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• 1/4 cup dried breadcrumbs
• 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
• Salt and pepper
• 1 x 500g packet spaghetti
• 2 tablespoons oil
• 575g jar Leggo‘s Pasta Sauce -
   Bolognaise

Here’s how to do it

  Step 1   Step 2   Step 3

Step 1
In a large bowl mix together beef mince, egg, breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, salt and pepper. (The easiest way is to use your hands - wash them first!)

Step 2
Take one tablespoon of mixture and roll into a ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture until all of it has been rolled.

Step 3
While the spaghetti is cooking, take a large frying pan and place on hotplate over a medium–high heat. Add 2 teaspoons of the remaining oil and allow to heat, then add half the meat balls and cook, rolling the balls around the pan so that they brown well on all sides. Remove from the pan and repeat with the remaining oil and meat balls. Return meatballs to pan and pour in Leggo‘s Pasta Sauce - Bolognaise.

  Step 4   Step 5   Step 6

Step 4
Add the 1/3 cup water to the empty jar, replace the lid and shake to remove the last of the sauce. Add to the pan and stir to combine. Allow to simmer over a medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.

Step 5
Once the spaghetti is cooked pour into a colander and drain off the water. Add cooked spaghetti to the meatball sauce and combine using a pair of tongs.

Step 6
Serve.
